Founded in 2006, The Coffee Shop seeks to help revive and nurture a sense of community. We believe as do our years of loyal customers, that we have created a place where people can "Come Together." We are the community Cafe, supporting local bakers, artists, musicians, writers and performers with a comfortable place to highlight their products or showcase their talents.

Our shop is fully wired for technology, as well as provides a place where people can congregate to hear live music or participate in a poetry reading, storytelling, educational lecture or class. We also display some of the area's best local art or crafts. ^©

Located on the ground floor of a three-story building at the corner of Morgan Ave. and Pittcard St., in Hawthorn Square, The Coffee Shop's modern take on a neighborhood cafe contrasts with the classic architecture of the 92-year-old construction.

Inside, the main counter sits along the right wall of the establishment, while the lounge area expands throughout the rest of the floor plan. The mezzanine hosts small tables and couches for those who wish for a quieter place to work or play. Free Wi-Fi is available to all customers.

There's a stage located on the first floor and near the back by the stairs. The kitchen is behind the main counter on the first floor. The Coffee Shop's apple pie was elected the best in town in 2012.

Our coffees are micro roasted in extremely small batches.Like fine estate wines from small wineries, each of our coffees have unique characteristics. All our coffees are from protected estates, and are Certified Organic Coffee, free from the use of herbicides. We pay an added premium to ensure that our coffee is not only organic, but Fair Trade and Shade Tree Certified as well as being sanctioned by the Smithsonian Institute as bird friendly. All coffee and teas are available in bulk. ^©

Art exhibits run on a monthly basis. If you would like to be considered to be our featured monthly artist, please send us: an artist statement, images/examples of work, contact info, website (if applicable), desired month to exhibit, any other info. Our art calendar is booked well in advance, but we encourage you to apply for future monthly exhibitions. Important to note: our interior is quite large, so we grant preference to artists with a breadth of work that may fill the space. Group shows are also supported. ^©

Since its inception, The Coffee Shop has become an integral part of the community, supporting events, businesses and people.

We've hosted book clubs, private parties, charity events, book siginings, storytelling, educational lectures or classes and a number of other gatherings. The Coffee Shop consistently sponsors community initiatives and is directly involved with Network for Good, an organization who works to keep kids in school by offering support to children and youth during the after-school hours.
